Orange County leaders have placed a Real Estate Transfer Tax, also
known as the “Home Tax,” on the May 6th ballot. This new tax is a
bad idea because it taxes our young couples, working families and
senior citizens the most.
The Home Tax is a permanent tax that will affect anyone selling
property, and creates a tax on your right to sell your property.
Moreover, the Home Tax would not be paid by newcomers, but by
homeowners when they
sell their home. Owning a home helps build
wealth and has long been part of the American Dream. Placing a tax
on that dream -- especially in today’s slowing economy -- makes no
sense.
